The CMCA designation is earned through continuing professional education and committing to uphold the CMCA Standards of Professional Conduct. Katharine Smith is the owner of White Rabbit Design, a design and creative agency specializing in branding, graphic design, and copywriting. A native Western New Yorker, Katharine received her B.S. in Graphic Design from SUNY Buffalo State. Katharine is immediate past president of the Buffalo Niagara Chapter of NYS Women, Inc.; founding member and past president of NAWBO Buffalo Niagara (National Association of Women Business Owners); and steering committee chair of Women in Leadership (a WKBW-TV partnership with NYS Women, Inc. honoring area women). Chris Aikens of Kenrick Corporation awarded highest professional designation in the country

Chris Aikens of Kenrick Corporation is one of only a small handful of professionals in the country to have earned the prestigious PCAM designation. Chris spent several years taking courses in various cities throughout the U.S. and passed an intensive case study last November 2014 in Los Angeles. This included a multi-day tour of the subject, a 1,000 unit property, and the submission of a 100-page thesis management plan describing how to improve the physical property and all other aspects of governing the property. Recently, Chris also helped position Kenrick Corporation as one of only two AAMC accredited management firms in New York State. The Chapter’s “How to Deal with Difficult People” Program

This past summer, we had the pleasure of once again enjoying the beautiful venue of the Monroe Golf Club. The meeting was led by Dick Aikens, CAI-WNY president, and included a panel discussion on a subject that impacts many of us in our personal and business lives: how to deal with difficult people. The meal had a summer picnic theme with barbecue items served with a variety of salads. Based on the 90% “excellent to very good” survey results, we’re looking forward to another summer-themed event in 2016! On Saturday, May 3, CAI-WNY conducted its Essentials of Community Association Volunteer Leadership program at the Oak Brook Community Clubhouse, hosted by Jean Kough of Clover Management. The 23 participants included board members and community management personnel, as well as a business member of the chapter. The presenters included: • David M.
