We’ve got a great year planned for you! -from the desk of Frank Lysiak Since we are going to press at the close of 2016, I’d like to extend best wishes for a Happy New Year in 2017. This past year was quite a success: particularly based on your support and participation in the annual trade shows held in Buffalo and Rochester. A special thanks to the Crofton Management team for their support; this was their fifth successful Rochester trade show. Great job! In addition to the trade shows, plans are being finalized to offer legal forums in Buffalo and Rochester in the upcoming year. Last year’s event, hosted by Kenrick Corporation at the Monroe Golf Club, was a great success; we had almost 100 […]

Working for YOU – from the desk of Frank Lysiak We are rapidly approaching the season when we can all enjoy time with family and friends; with so many outdoor activities available it can be hard to stay inside! While we experienced a relatively mild winter, by Western New York standards, the work continues on enhancement and improvements to our communities. Thanks to all those board members, community managers, and business partners who serve on behalf of community and condominium associations. By doing your part everyone can have an enjoyable summer. Several years ago CAI formed a committee made up of chapter delegates from across New York State. The legislative action committee members from the Western New York Chapter include Ronald Shubert, Jean Kough, […]

We want to hear from you – from the desk of Frank Lysiak   What a difference a year makes! Remember last year’s record snowfall – the infamous “Snowvember” – when a number of our community associations were dealing with eight feet of snow? Compare that to this year when we’re on track to break a turn of the century (1899) record on NO measurable snowfall to date. I have to believe that most of our association board members, community managers, and service providers are pleased with this year’s long term weather forecast after the barrage of negativity based on the record snowfall and cold temperatures beginning at this time last year. “Thank YOU, El Nino!“ Speaking of records, please take note of our article […]

Mark your calendars! – from the desk of Frank Lysiak Considering that the “winter season” began in November with an unexpected seven feet of snow and the re-scheduling of our 2014 annual meeting and trade show to March 10, 2015, we are still off to a great start for the current year. Take a moment to look over our upcoming programs and “mark your calendars!” Going forward, CAI-WNY will not present programs from November to February to insure a minimum of inconvenience for our members (translation: we’re hoping to avoid any more snowstorms!). Since we are holding 2014’s annual meeting in Buffalo, the board of directors saw this as an opportunity to move the chapter’s 2015 annual meeting & trade show to Rochester at the […]

What does CAI-WNY provide to its members and the industry? from the desk of Frank Lysiak   As we pass the halfway mark in our calendar year, I find myself reflecting on the programs of this past year. The success of these chapter events, as well our goal for future programs, is based on surveys that ask, “What is the greatest value that Community Associations Institute provides to its members and the industry? “ The answer has consistently been “Education and networking stand out as the greatest value of, and the most compelling reasons for, membership in CAI-WNY.” As it turns out, Community Associations Institute was created for these very purposes. In 1964, the Urban Land Institute published The Homes Association Handbook, which called for […]
