CED Message: Lazy hazy crazy days of summer!
– from the desk of Frank Lysiak
Hello to those lazy hazy crazy days summertime! We all look forward with such anticipation to this great time of year: barbecues, baseball, and opportunities to socialize with our neighbors in our communities.
In late June, CAI-WNY had the pleasure of hosting a barbecue and business meeting at the Monroe Golf Club that was attended by almost 100 participants from the Rochester area. Our program chair, Dick Aikens, did another great job in bringing together industry professionals from the insurance and legal areas to answer homeowner questions regarding issues in our condominium and homeowner association communities.
We’re looking forward to the upcoming programs and trade show events in October in both Buffalo and Rochester. On a personal level, I’ll be transitioning my current responsibilities as chapter executive director (CED) to Katharine Smith, who will be assuming the CED position effective January 1, 2018. I’ve made the decision that, after serving in this position since 2010, it’s time to really enjoy my retirement (traveling, spending more time with family and friends).
I have great confidence in Katharine, who has been associated with the Western New York Chapter for the past 15 years, creating our newsletter, promotional mailers, and program materials. In addition, she has held volunteer positions in similar non-profit organizations, focusing on membership and providing support services.
Our plan is to transition all of the CED duties to Katharine over the next six months, ensuring that she is comfortable with the role and responsibilities of the chapter, not only in administrative areas, but more importantly, in creating the programs, panels, and events that will continue to assist you in the management of your communities in your role as board member, community manager, or service provider.
I look forward to introducing Katharine to you at one of our upcoming functions, and of thanking you for supporting me over these past eight years.
And THANK YOU for the opportunity to serve in this role! I look forward to maintaining the many personal and business friendships I’ve made since I’ll continue with CAI-WNY as a community manager member.
